Courgette flower

First courgette flower of the year,I decided to plant a courgette that needs no pollinator in the the tunnel this year to see how it goes.I have never tried this variety before pantheon is the name.but said to ,myself I will put in some defenders as well, pantheon planted first defender second and I was in for a surprise when I went to the tunnel Friday night to see defender in flower,it will come to nothing as there is no male to pollinate it,but it was a great lift to see the yellow promise of summer. I have some yellow courgettes in big containers for outside but leaving them in tunnel until warmer. Brought up some butternuts and winter squashes to tunnel to get ready for their big outing to the raised bed I have got ready from the.

Strawberry plants in tunnel I hand pollinated them last night ,I'm going to put them outside today to see if the busy bees will do the job as well.

Chilli plant

Picture of my chilli plant starting to flower,behind are my butternut squash and some winter squash.Also some courgettes yellow and green ones,one cucumber plant as we dont eat much cucumbers and an egg plant just to try out as i have never grown one before. In the propagator I have some drawf french beans called speedy,and some melon seed,the melon are old seeds so dont hold out much hope of them germinating. Going to the allotment tonight if it does'nt rain so will try to take more pictures.

Allotment update

New to this blog and couldn't find where it was lol. Potatoes in polytunnel going to flower soon,the bud are swelling,I'm doing rocket as my early as usual,quick growing and taste nice.if you leave them the get nice and big I find them great,last years yield was low hoping it's better this year.decided not to go foe second earliers only main crop and trying a sarpo Mira as the blight was so bad last year. Carrots are up under enviromesh it's heart warming to see the seedlings I check there progress first time when I arrive at lottie.no water last night was hoping parsnips would be through but no sign,plant swedes last night 2 big rows trying Marion for the first time.celeriac looking good and seem happy outside.peas and mangetout outside seem ok,still have fleece around them. In the tunnel I have the first mangtout from the overwintered plants it great to see the White flowers,strawberries are flowering as well.carrots are 3 inch high so finally starting to move.I have courgettes in mini greenhouse in tunnel and fleeced they are happy trying pantheon are they don't need to be pollinated.drawf beans have beans about 2 inches long.have planted climbing French beans in tunnel the plants are 4 inch high,fleeced and hoping ok.
